We raise, hunt, catch our own meats and raise a large garden for use, barter, or sell

Built our own home, root cellar, greenhouse, and outbuildings [super insulated] wood heat

Future.....gasifier / generator for power outages, outside wood bread oven, ram pump for water

I live on a 70 acres farm were we raise chickens, goats, cows, turkeys and pigs.  We raise a garden every year and can as much as I can and look for bargains at the stores to also can.  We are working on being prepared but have a long ways to go.

55 years of age and beginning to look at retirement in the not-so-distant future.  Spent all my adult life working for engineering companies as a piping designer/draftsman in the petro-chemical field.  Deeply concerned about where this country is headed.  I wish to purchase a small piece of land in the country, away from refineries and the hustle-and-bustle, build a small off-the-grid home, grow what I can, and live my remaining years in peace.
