“This project is for people with money,” said Pineda. “I, working to clean homes, in a restaurant, can pay $2,000 to $3,000 for an apartment? Never.” “This [apartment] project isn’t for our families,” he said. “We either eat, or we pay rent.”

I think it's always been cheaper to buy than to rent, if you could get a loan.

Today you need 10% down and over 750 credit score. Then there is about 7-10 grand in closing costs. I'd buy land and live in a tent or camper and build.

20% down, closing costs aren't that high in a lot of areas. Plus there are laws that have curtailed a lot of the junk (read: profit) closing costs. And according to what passes for the "r" party these days, the person complaining must be lazy. And reliant on the government.

" the person complaining must be lazy. And reliant on the government. " You have any legitimate evidence for that snide comment?

Who makes $2500 per month by relying on the government?

Jaytee - go back and read Expat's comment. She was referring to the mindset of certain Repugs, not stating her opinion.

I was being sarcastic. Any time a person struggles, the pukes insist it is because he/she is lazy and looking for a handout.

Please please please, don't start calling each other names. We'll turn into that other unpleasant homestead place if you start that. (Hugs all around!!)
