In the low 40's today, overcast most of the day and snow still hanging on. Fencing company still worked and got all the posts set and ground leveled where the gates will hang. The lot is intended to have a holding area for the horses but also a lot for the dogs. Heavy chain link and tight to the ground. Gonna be nice. Should be finished by at least Monday. Appointment with the Pulmonary Dr today. I had been researching blood clots and it hit me that I had done a real number on my left leg and had surgery. I told him my theory and he agreed that the blood clots could be from that leg. Did an ultrasound to see if there were more. Should get the results in a couple of days. Amazing what the Dr.s don't tell you

Well...to keep this thread up towards the top I'll give everyone an idea what we've been up to the past couple of days.  Yesterday we heated the straw bale cabin and hung out there playin' around.  Watching all the birds on a feeding frenzy, shoveling trails to the greenhouse...was 40 degrees in the greenhouse and yesterday topped out at about 7 here, I think.  Came back here and had an email from Amy (our chef friend) and at the same time as I was reading it got a phone call from Aaron, her husband the sculptor.  They'd made reservations for Mexico and were attempting to persuade us to do the same.  So...I checked on line, called a number...found some information...and we made reservations as well...heading to Playa Del Carmen...Amy was excited because one of the restaurants at this place has a world renowned chef...so...wasn't expecting to do that, but did it anyway.

Today we walked quite a bit, did some floor exercises and finally got the cats to realize it wasn't 80 below zero outside.  I've given up beer for awhile, and Cheryl today said she's going to also...not quitting mind you, just taking a break for awhile...

I really wish I could say some great things that are going on in the garden, or the greenhouse...or with some project...but seriously, we're in a real lull.  Warm, comfortable...

Tonight...northern lights if this light cloud cover blows away.

That's all folks...

I got a text from number one son about on hour ago. "Oh Dad, in case you didn't know".  My daughter is being brought into surgery for appendicitis. She is down in Portland all alone. She was admitted into the hospital last night with severe stomach pain. Do you think the Ex would send off a text, e-mail or something and let me know?  WTF is wrong with people?

The Ex is immature and selfish. But take heart, at least number one son (geez, Charlie Chan anyone?) has his head on straight.

Tobit, sorry about your Mom. It's hard. I know.

Jenny, my best friend, Ginny, is going through the same thing.

their kids all three live very near though and see their Dad often.

the Dr has stopped all treatment. Says he has been through enough crap

because of them.

WOW! We are having a thunder storm right now.  I LOVE MO.

washing away the snow. AWESOME!

It was -1° today and temps will be dropping. We should hit -40° about Sunday night and stay that way until mid week. Living vicariously through Bruce.  Ah  Mexico.

I did have a picture of Tunnel's Beach In Kauai as my background, but had to change it. It's not good to come into work everyday and think. "I wanna live there, WTF am I doing here"?. In comparison to where I do live it just drives me down.

Three more years is the estimate, then I'm outta here.

Well maybe if you photoshop a giant radioactive lizard on the beach it will make you feel better.

It was cold again last night. Dog huddling temps. The water pump froze but rectified itself as the daytime temps became promising. Temps are heading upward toward rain for tomorrow. I can suffer with that, even though I will be going out in it and look like a drowned rat before I get to my car.

Today is filled with work-work catch up stuff and if I don't check my email, the backlog won't swell to guilty proportions over the weekend. I do need some time to just collapse in on myself.

The yaks have been behaving and so have the dogs. This kind of turn of events has me worried. The winter hay stash looks healthy but my firewood supply looks compromised. I best resurrect the kerosene heater, steal it back from the mice, replace the wick and start thinking of hauling in some kerosene. I sure hope I don't have to do that. At least, not until late March.

Glad to hear from all the members here.

Chris, you need a nice team of people to build you a yak-proof fence.

One of the considerations we had in going to the Caribbean rather than the Pacific...

The great part about the Caribbean is that you can see the sharks approaching in that water. :P

Been in bed all day today, I must have tweaked a muscle in my lower back earlier in the week when I was trying to chop up ice at the end of the driveway and moving 50 lb. bags of rock salt and sand.  Very uncomfortable to sit or stand, have to lay down.  I just got up to try and eat some dinner, back to bed for me.

Moms is finally getting better, thanks.

We have 2 estimates now for movers and I am in the wrong like of work! Jeez. Oh well, we have no time to move it ourselves and I am not keen on doing it in the cold and snow so it is what it is.

I agree. I've done enough self-moves to last a lifetime.
