New one on me - have a package coming UPS from MI. UPS tracking now shows "adverse weather conditions" with package in Maumee, Ohio. That could well be the understatement of the day! It's bitterly cold here today and tomorrow is supposed to be worse. They are closing the schools for the day. Package should arrive sometime in the spring. Of all things, it's fleece!

The sheep get sheared/the fleece is cleaned, etc. and then dyed/that's it. It's what spinners use to make yarn. I use it to needle felt. The way things are going, I may just wrap myself up in it! With the weather you're having, I bet Cheryl was waiting for them!

Member Posts: 20 | Snotcicles on the horses in the barn. They are all pretty sure I caused this extreme cold and are all thoroughly pissed. If only I had that much clout ! . First time since I've lived here that the propane stove couldn't keep the 3 rooms warm. Had to fire up the cook stove to help out. Heating water now for everyone. Geez it's cold

We are both down again with the crud, respiratory problems, bloody sinuses, extreme fatigue, watering read eyes. It's unusual for us to get sick, never mind twice in 6 weeks and never have both of us gotten like this at the same time. I'm starting to wonder if the Fukishima radiation fall out isn't affecting our health? Going to get on-line and look for a Geiger counter. We may end up living in S.A. with Al.

I don't know, Rob. I rarely get sick either, but then I had that flu-like crap a couple weeks ago. Just about over the lingering effects (runny nose, etc) this week, and this morning I woke up with head pressure, a sore throat, and my head spins when I turn my head too fast. WTF. We got some kind of super cooties being released in this country this year or what?

I wonder how much Cesium 134 and 137 came down with the Polar Vortex? A spinning system would concentrate the radiation towards the middle of the vortex.

The U.S Geological Survey released a statement that confirms that during routine survey work along the Arctic coastline they found “fur loss and open sores were detected in nine polar bears over a two week period". These lesions are consistent with radiation poisoning. Wildlife experts are studying whether the symptoms detected in these nine polar bears is widespread and related to similar incidents found recently among seals and walruses. In case you missed it in Discourse

300 tons let me say it again 300 TONS per day is being released at Fukushima. We live in a bubble ya'll. that's 300 tons a day times 3 years or 1,095 days = almost 329,000 TONS of radioactive material dumped into the Global Ecosystem. This isn't normal pollution that gets dilluted, no just the opposite. This stuff concentrates up the biosphere. AND it's geting worse everyday.

New term..... polar vortex, this apparently has something to do with why I'm freezing my arse off. The 2 ft of snow is not helping matters either. Ended up working an extra day, 15 hours of OT will be nice in my pocket. Or could help with rebuilding the tranny in the truck Sac. hope wiggles is feeling better, heart breaking when they're sick. I have a cold, first one of the season, seems to be nothing more than a wrinkle. Hope it finishes that way too. Seed catalogs are dominating my thoughts lately...... peace

For some reason, flu (and I suspect other viruses) are not behaving as normal - usually the very young, elderly, and otherwise health comprised are its target. This year, mostly healthly folks in their 40s & 50s are bearing the brunt of the flu and what you call the crud. According to one media report, this strain of flu hasn't hit people who were born after 1950. But I too wonder what is up. I remember being sick in 1971 (year of flu outbreak) but not missing more than a couple days of school. My time off from work has been good choice. I limit my exposure to my former co-workers who refuse to take care of themselves (poor diet, lack of rest). Saving money by being home during this cold snap (wood stove, not risking vehicle accident etc). My guess is you picked up a virus when you visited IL - new group of germs. And cripes, you went thru O'Hare and were on a plane twice.
