I think thats a good idea, it would be nice if once we get over to the perminant site we all post a short bit about who we are and where we live (in broad terms) as its start over time and we are all going to be 'newbies'! I am just going to hold off till we get to the new place however....

No harm in shouting out.  Also, if you want to see who's here you can click on the "members" tab at the top of the page and see everyone who's registered.

Alaska checking in!  We are in IL for a week, enjoying, literally, a 90 degree temp change! WOOT!!!!!  It has been no-coat weather since we arrived.  Sunny and gorgeous again today.

Tomorrow we meet up with Slaeg and his lovely lady in Galena for a visit.  I can't hardly wait.

I think this new forum will be just fine. Never did completely adjust to the new old forum, prolly because I did not get to log on much.  We ARE very likely going to get satellite internet when we get home!!!! YAY!!  With the book out and all the research Rob needs to do for the next one, along with what I do for the illustrations, yep - gonna need the net at home.

Please, please - if you go onto Amazon to buy the book - be sure to leave a comment so we can edge it to the top of the list. That wwill help enormously with advertising.  I hope everyone here who DOES give it a whirl really enjoys it.  We had so much fun making that project happen.

I plan on getting it, and also buying a copy and having it shipped to my great niece, who is a voracious reader and was pretty psyched about "My Side of The Mountain" when I got it for her.

I'm here.  Don't like the idea of having to switch formats all over again, AGAIN.  I guess 10 years was a pretty good run, and hopefully we can make the new forum even better.  Never did stop missing the ability to log in and have all the new posts since I was last on appear. .. didn't like having to go through each section every time just in case there was a new thread I had missed... hope that old feature can re-appear.  Anyway, hope to "see"  everyone  back on here soon.

Or we could just bring you a copy tomorrow. ;)

"...HELP!!!!..."

I would not worry too much about it, as this forum here is going away in just a couple of days.

It is just a temporary measure to try to keep everyone together while the "real" new forum is being set-up.

If a little more advance notice had been given, this transitiion could have been accomplished rather smoothly and seamlessly, but we were not extended the courtesy.

It is very fortunate that there were a  few here who are proficient in the ways of discussion groups, who were able to work together efficiently under the threat of a deadline, and are williing to do it all, not only without a profit motive, but with no gurantee that their out-of-pocket costs would even be covered.

I am impressed.

I am also happy that this is a collaberative effort not dominated by, and subject to the whims of, a single entity.

And not merely an adjunct to for-profit business.

This could truly be the "community" that some of you have spoken of.
